Our verdict

DingTalk's strength is management rather than collaboration: attendance, approvals, reporting and org charts are handled in more detail than anywhere else for Chinese companies. The AI assistant added over the past two years fills in meeting notes and scheduling. The product is built from a manager's point of view, though, and frontline staff often feel watched — it is less pleasant to use than Feishu.

Stärken

  • The most complete management features, attendance and approvals included
  • Integrates with DingTalk hardware and access control
  • A mature permission model for large organisations

Schwächen

  • Employees experience it as being managed
  • Document editing is weaker than Feishu
  • High information density in the interface

FAQ

Is there a free plan?
Yes — the Free tier stays free. Enough for individuals and teams up to five; move to Pro ¥9800/yr+ when you outgrow it.
Is it reachable from mainland China?
Yes. We verified direct access without extra network setup.
Are the UI and docs in Chinese?
Yes — UI, help centre and the main templates ship in Simplified Chinese.
Which platforms does DingTalk support?
It covers Web / macOS / Windows / iOS / Android. Accounts sync across clients, so a mixed macOS/Windows team keeps the same setup.
What are the best DingTalk alternatives?
The usual comparisons are Granola, Fellow, Fathom. Granola has a free tier, which is the cheapest way to start; The comparison table below lines up pricing and free quotas.
Can I export my data?
Most plans export CSV / JSON. Check that the export entry is open to your plan before you commit — it keeps history from getting stuck in an old workspace.
