Our verdict

Kimi's differentiator is length: it reads a whole annual report or a stack of contracts in one pass, and its grasp of Chinese context is clearly better than general-purpose models. Chinese web search coverage is strong too. The trade-off is weaker coding and multimodal ability than the frontier Western models, and complex reasoning sometimes goes in circles.

Prós

  • Very long context, ask questions against a whole PDF
  • The most natural Chinese phrasing and context handling
  • Reachable from mainland China with no extra setup

Contras

  • Weaker at code and tool calling
  • Queues form during peak hours
  • Mobile app does less than the web version
